Aluminium door installation is hinged and sliding aluminium frames for balconies, patios and villa entrances. Book it when the existing aluminium sash has dropped, the lock misses, the rollers have flattened, or a new opening needs a powder-coated frame rather than timber or UPVC.
The glass is part of the specification, not an afterthought. A high-floor apartment and a ground villa do not automatically take the same profile. Wind on tower balconies loads the frame. The survey treats the floor level and the exposure as part of the size.
Hinged doors and aluminium sliders
Hinged aluminium doors suit a villa entrance or a single balcony leaf. Sliding aluminium doors suit the wider patio openings common in villas and apartments. The track has to be set to the finished floor. A track that sits proud of new tile becomes a trip and a place for water.
Powder coat is the finish. Coastal sites want hardware that is not plain steel. A thermal break is worth asking for on a door that separates strong AC from a hot balcony, because a plain aluminium frame transfers that heat into the room.
Profile for the opening
A small balcony profile is not stretched across a villa patio. The section is chosen for the width and the floor height.
Glass named in the scope
Single, double or laminated glass is written down. The frame visit is not a promise of a particular glass unless it is in the scope.
Included, and what aluminium will not do
Included is the aluminium door and frame in the agreed finish, fixings, lock or roller adjustment, and a close-and-lock test. Not included is a fire rating. Standard aluminium balcony doors are not fire doors. Also not included is frameless glass channel work, which is a different installation, or cutting the slab to create a new opening. If you need a sliding door and the main question is the track and the rollers, the sliding door page is the closer match. This page is the aluminium frame itself.
- Hinged aluminium entrance and balcony doors
- Aluminium sliding patio doors with the track set to the tile
- Powder coat and hardware suited to the exposure
- Not a fire-rated stair door
- Not frameless glass and not a structural new opening
Questions about this door
Hinges or rollers wear, or the frame was never fixed square. On sliders the bottom track fills with grit and the rollers flatten. Sometimes the head track has come loose. The visit finds which of those it is before a whole new frame is sold.
Size, sliding or hinged, the glass build-up, powder-coat colour, a new track against finished stone, and removal of the old frame. A high-floor door specified for wind is a different section from a sheltered ground-floor patio. Those are the lines on the scope.
A new sash can be ordered in a stated powder-coat colour. Faded existing frames will not match a fresh coat exactly. The scope says the colour code or the closest standard colour, not an invisible repair to a chalked frame.
Both are used on the Gulf. Aluminium takes larger spans and slimmer frames. UPVC is a sound apartment-balcony choice when the reinforcement and drainage are right. Salt still attacks cheap hinges and rollers on either. The hardware spec matters as much as the frame material.
A fly screen or a separate security screen is included only when it is written in the scope. Many balcony doors are ordered without one. Say if you need the screen track at the same time, because it changes the frame depth.
A normal aluminium balcony or patio door will not. Escape doors that the drawings mark as fire exits need a rated set and the hardware that was tested with it. If the door is on a stair or a protected corridor, stop and use the fire door installation page.
